Carolyn Spranger Photography & Birth Services, LLC

Thank you for visiting my site to learn more about me!  My name is Althea Hrdlichka. I am blessed to be a mother to 3 boys, and then finally, a little girl.  I am also blessed to be happily married to a very supportive man.  I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, birth and postpartum doula trainer, home birth student Midwife, and owner/founder of Mother’s Life Tea, LLC in Fort Collins, Colorado. I mainly serve Northern Colorado to include, but not limited to, Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland, Greeley, Estes Park, and Boulder.  I will also work with clients occasionally in Cheyenne, WY, and Denver, CO.  I work to ensure every birth is covered by always having a backup doula.

I have been trained and equipped with the knowledge it takes to provide optimal birth and postpartum Doula care for your growing family.  I became certified in 2009 through Birth Trust Doula Training with Alison Haasch, RM, CPM at Life Spring Midwifery, who later opened one of the only free standing birth center in Arizona. Shortly after becoming a doula I knew that midwifery would eventually become by reality, however, at the time I still wanted to be home with my own babies before diving in to school and an apprenticeship.  Over the years, I developed a deep love for midwifery that truly became part of me.  In 20111 I felt called to continue on and purse my ultimate goal of becoming a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife).  I began apprenticing with Alison in 2011 as a student midwife until life brought us to Fort Collins. In 2013, I went back and trained with Alison to became a trainer for Birth Trust Doula Training, being the only Colorado division. In 2014 I began working with Barbie Burrage with BirthWise Midwifery to complete my apprenticeship in additional to starting school at National Midwifery Institute.  As a midwifery student, I keep a current certification in neonatal resuscitation and CPR. Over the years, I have attended approximately 150 births, working closely with midwives and Doctors, helping care for women and their families during this special time. In addition, I have worked with many women through natural and medicated births to include working with many women who have achieved successful VBAC’s in the hospital and at home!

Aside from all my training, I still believe the most beneficial training I have is experiencing the miracle of birth with my own four beautiful children.  I understand the trials and emotions throughout pregnancy, the ups and downs of laboring and childbirth (medicated and non-medicated), and the restless nights/days caring for a newborn in the first delicate weeks postpartum.  I have found through my pregnancies that my enjoyment and satisfaction during that time was, in a large part, dependent on the support I received.  This was often in the form of education given to me on pregnancy issues by doulas and midwifes, along with the support and information how best to deal with each individual issue. Due to these great experiences, I feel called to follow my passion and work as a birth and postpartum doula, continue down the midwifery path, and teach others to become supportive and loving doulas in this great community.  I feel so blessed to help support and care for families and their newborns during their journey through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.  I look forward to extending this knowledge to you and your partner, while providing the opportunity for a wonderful and satisfying pregnancy and birth. There is nothing more wonderful than bringing new life into this world!  Please contact me if you have any other questions about myself or the services I provide.
